Who is Whit?

In high school, everybody called me “Whit” (short for Whitner). Some of my classmates didn’t even know my name was Jose. It’s funny, my sons were given the same nickname in high school. I’ve been married for 33 years to my best friend. She and I have been together since college. It seems like we were babies when we married.
We have two boys and a girl, all grown up now. Yes, I have learned a lot as a father and husband. Feel free to ask me questions about marriage and parenting. 😊 I can tell you: parenting is the hardest job I have ever had. I still wouldn’t have it any other way, though. It’s like that State Farm commercial where the guys says “never” for everything and at the end he says; “I’m never letting go!”. That’s how I feel!
I started my career, in the real estate industry, as a Loan Officer. I discovered I was good at my job and decided to go out on my own. I opened my own mortgage company – Residential Lending – a few years later. Being an entrepreneur can be difficult at times, but I have hung in there for over 20 years. You wouldn’t believe some of the stories I could tell you. I think I have seen and heard it all! I’ve experienced a lot, too. Highs (grossing $60,000 in one real estate transaction) and lows (business partner reneging on their word and literally taking more than $200,000 from me and my family) are all a part of life. As one of the greatest in sports said;
“The game has its ups and downs, but you can never lose focus of your individual goals and you can’t let yourself be beat because of lack of effort.”- Michael Jordan.
That is why I am still in this Industry! I currently own Clear Financial Concepts, LLC dba JWhithomes and currently I invest in real estate, help individuals with their personal credit and help them build business credit. It’s important to separate your personal credit from your business credit.
Most people who know me know I love to talk. People seem to want to talk to me about everything. Being a good listener takes empathy and sympathy. You have two ears and one mouth, so it’s always good to listen more than you speak. My conversations with people allow us to brainstorm different solutions to various problems. There is always more than one way to skin a cat! This is how and why AskWhit was formed.
Solving real estate and credit problems is fun for me. I LOVE IT!! I like to think of myself as a Real Estate and Credit Problem Solver who thinks outside the box. Enjoying what you do is the key to success. Working becomes a service to others instead of a “job”.
